Set Sail to Ghana

Ghana TeamAPAM, GHANA—First Baptist Church, Oxford, Michigan, has teamed up with the New Life Baptist Church of Apam, Ghana, Africa, and its pastor, John Abedu-Kennedy, to conduct five three-day VBS outreaches in four churches—Ashaiman, Apam, Kasao, and Mumford—and at one youth camp. The team of six teens from Oxford is led by Deacon Dan Wells and his wife, Anita.

Regular Baptist Press/Gospel Literature Services has donated some of last year’s “Set Sail” VBS materials and supplies for this missions outreach, which began on Wednesday, August 1 at Gospel Baptist Church in Ashaiman and concludes on Sunday, August 26, in Apam.

Early reports are very positive concerning this outreach. The first day in Ashaiman brought very young children in the morning, and then 120 older students came in the evening. One trusted Christ as Savior. On the second day 172 children came, and two trusted Christ. Some 300 students were anticipated for Friday, August 3, according to the local pastor.

Pray for those who make decisions and for the workers as they move on from place to place. It is hard on them to leave, as they come to love these children dearly in the short time they’re with them.
